Abandoned Puppies On The Side Of The Highway
A while back, there was an article about six adorable little puppies being found on the side of a highway in a garbage bag. A motorist had stopped to stretch and was standing by his car when he heard yelping and crying coming from the bag. He quickly called police and went to explore. The bag was tied shut, cruel, but thank God, or these puppies would have been killed on the highway. He quickly took the bag back to his car and opened the bag to find six hungry puppies barely moving.
The officer arrived and called a rescue group who responded within an hour to take the puppies and care for them. The puppies all lived and were adopted into good homes. The man on the side of the road was the first one to adopt one of the little ones. These puppies were five weeks old, had never asked to be born, and could not have possibly hurt anyone. Why would someone do something so cruel? Today, you can take unwanted puppies, dogs, cats or any animal to a rescue or Humane Society, therefore, there was no reason for these puppies to be abandoned.
The problem I see is that no one was ever found and made to pay for this cruel and inhumane treatment of these innocent puppies. Why can’t the crime lab do what they do in a murder or other criminal act? Check the bag for fingerprints and ask post advertisements for information from the public. These are living and breathing puppies, therefore, they disserve the same rights as a human. What was done to punish the offenders?
There was absolutely nothing done because no one took the time to do lab tests to find the offender. If it would have been a person, you had better believe someone would have gone to the ends of the earth to find the criminal. There has to be a solution and a law to prevent this type of cruelty. More people need to stand up and fight for stiffer punishments and not just a fine. This was a deliberate act of “endangering the life of another”. How many years in prison is that worth if it was a human? These poor animals need our help.
I for one would support any law that would demand jail or prison time for any offenders. This is an ongoing problem and people need to held responsible. Don’t you agree?
