Dog Cruelty Is Killing Out Precious Creatures
Dog cruelty is fast becoming as common as theft, disorderly conduct and drunk driving. It is sad that our laws do not protect these innocent creatures from physical, mental and inhumane treatment. Stiffer penalties are needed for such crimes against animals. Without these penalties, people will continue to treat these beautiful creatures with disrespect and mistreatment. We as people need to speak up for the animal population, as they are unable to stand up for themselves.
A recent article in the Sheboygan Press in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, proves that people need to have harsher sentences for the mistreatment of animals. This person was left in charge of a puppy. The apartment was vacant, but the dog was still there. The person taking care of the dog just ignored his responsibilities and asked someone else to check on the dog. NOBODY checked on this poor little puppy for days. By the time the puppy was discovered in a kennel inside the apartment, he was so weak and frail.
This poor puppy was starving to death slowly. It was hot, and he had no food, water or companionship. He had to potty in the kennel and sleep in it as well. This makes one cry to think that someone could treat a poor defenseless puppy in such a cruel way. Rescue missions everywhere are constantly being called on to take poor defenseless animals that have been abused and neglected.
What is being done to the people who mistreat these animals? A fine and a statement of not to do it again. Now the last time I looked down at my little guys sleeping at my feet, they are breathing, living creatures. They are not human, but some humans are not human and if you mistreat one, you are going to jail. If you kill one, you go to prison.
Our judicial system needs to recognize cruelty to animals as a crime against everyone. Just because they are not human, wait, my dogs and cats are treated as humans and they act as they are as well, therefore, all living creatures are breathing, living creatures just as we are and deserve to be treated with love and respect. My dogs and cats have their own blog Jake, Pooh Bear and the Cats, with their own description of life. How can ones justice system say you can mistreat them or starve them to death, they have their own voice.
