Understanding The Pekinese Dog Breeds

Bookmark and Share

Pekinese are beautiful little dogs. They do not much exercise since they normally do not become overweight. If you do take your Pekinese for a walk, it should be a short walk as they tire easily because of their short legs. Although they love to socialize, they prefer to walk a short distance and then spent their time with the human companions.

Pekinese are prone to ear infections, this because they have ears that cover the entire ear. This causes bacteria to become moist and multiply in the ear. No air gets inside the ear. A vet can prescribe medication to take care of the infection. They are little fur balls weighting about 15 to 20 pounds and have a flatten nose, which results in many having respiratory problems as well as ear infections.

Pekinese need to be brushed daily or their hair will twist and become matted. Their teeth need cleaning and for the most part a good dog bone specially made to remove plaque works better than trying to brush their teeth.

Pekinese are loving and compatible dogs. They get along with other dogs and cats as well as children.
