Understanding The Pekinese Dog Breeds

Bookmark and Share

Pekinese are beautiful little dogs. They do not much exercise since they normally do not become overweight. If you do take your Pekinese for a walk, it should be a short walk as they tire easily because of their short legs. Although they love to socialize, they prefer to walk a short distance and then spent their time with the human companions.

Pekinese are prone to ear infections, this because they have ears that cover the entire ear. This causes bacteria to become moist and multiply in the ear. No air gets inside the ear. A vet can prescribe medication to take care of the infection. They are little fur balls weighting about 15 to 20 pounds and have a flatten nose, which results in many having respiratory problems as well as ear infections.

Pekinese need to be brushed daily or their hair will twist and become matted. Their teeth need cleaning and for the most part a good dog bone specially made to remove plaque works better than trying to brush their teeth.

Pekinese are loving and compatible dogs. They get along with other dogs and cats as well as children.

Vacation Rentals For All Pets

Wilderness Vacation Pet Friendly Rentals

If you love the outdoors and the wildlife sounds, vacation rentals in the wood areas of many places will provide everything you want in a vacation. The pet friendly vacation rentals do remind guests to keep a close eye on their pets incase of possible dangers from the wildlife. Dogs and bears usually stay away from each other, but some bears will not back down, therefore, always know where the pet is at all times.

Do not allow dogs to dig holes and ruin the area around the vacation rentals. These units rely on people to take care of their pets and prevent them from misbehaving. If your dog needs to be outside, always keep them on a leash to provide safety. Dogs are born explorers and vacation rentals in the wilderness realize this, so they recommend certain things as far as your responsibilities.

Make sure pets have all vaccinations before traveling to your vacation rentals. These areas although safe, have populations of skunks, bears, deer and almost any critter known in the country. So take care of your pets for their own safety. Do not forget to enjoy the scenery and watch the deer run around in the wooded areas from the comfort of the vacation rentals.

Exotic Pets and Vacation Rentals

Many people consider a family pet many different things. Vacation rentals might consider family pets a dog or a cat. You should check with the agent making your reservation what the policy is regarding pets. Some may not have any guidelines, but some have now began to specify what type of pet they consider for allowing.

Exotic pets might pose a potential scare of other area renters. Snakes, ferrets, lizards, rats and birds may not be included in the guidelines. The pet friendly vacation rentals normally refer to cats and dogs. You would not want your neighbors waking up to a potbelly pig snoring to get inside during the morning outing.

Vacation rentals have come along way by allowing pets and giving people other options than kenneling their pets. Therefore, everyone has to follow the rules set by the rentals in order to keep this policy in affect so everyone can enjoy a vacation without worrying about the one they left behind.

Following all rules and watching out for the safety yourself, your pet and others around you is important when vacationing with family pets. Keep everyone happy and clean up after your pets daily to ensure cleanliness and rest easy when getting your deposit refunded.

Details Of Her Punishment For Animal Abuse

Bookmark and Share

Cassandra Dietrich was from Rock, Michigan. She was accused and convicted of animal abuse. Some who new her said she used to work with rescue groups and took in Weimaraners as well as helped many people in the Weimaraner group. She was always there for advice and to lend a helping hand. So what happened to Cassandra Dietrich? The story goes like this. She bred and showed her dogs and took very good care of them. The reports though, reported her as being a puppy mill or what is called a backyard puppy mill.

She met a man and fell in love. He was from Finland and she was moving to be with him. She had told people she had dogs that needed good homes, but did not find anybody. This is when she committed this horrible case of animal abuse. In the dead of winter, she took one dog with her and left the other dogs in the freezing cold house. There was no food or water as well as no heat and the pipes had frozen.

One of the dogs included a puppy that should have weighed sixty pounds, but weighed less than forty pounds when found. The puppy was a co-owned dog, five Weimaraners were her own dogs, and one was a foster dog. The Humane Society nurture the dogs back to health and found new homes for them. Thank God, they all survived. Anyone who knew or had any connections to Cassandra Dietrich where not allowed to adopt any of the dogs. They were all adopted to people that knew nothing of this woman.

The problem is the punishment she received for this inhumane treatment of these Weimaraners. As I have stated before, animal abuse needs to stop and the punishments need to be harsher. Cassandra Dietrich had to pay $2900 in restitution and could not own a dog or any animal for ONE YEAR. Can you believe this punishment? Restitution only and no fine or jail time.

The dogs according to the Humane Society were covered with feces, underweight, emaciated and dehydrated along with other medical problems. These Weimaraners were left to die and all she received was restitution and could not own a dog or any animal for one year. Where is the justice in this?

Last year she and her husband moved from Finland to Atlanta, Georgia, but while in Finland she owned a dog, it was some type of mixed breed. As the story goes, she died of some disease in December of 2006 it was a severe allergy to gluten but I am unsure of the exact name of the health problem. Cassandra Dietrich was just one of the millions of people who get away with cruel and inhumane treatment to animals or did she? Only one person knows for sure.

Puppy Mills On The Rise

Bookmark and Share

Puppy mills are on the rise, on not only farms but also right in the neighborhoods. People have taken a male and a female and bred not for quality or healthy puppies, but for profit. Yes, many breeders are reputable and breed dogs, but they take the time to have vet check ups to ensure the health of the mother and father. They have the puppies checked by a vet and the first shots are usually given.

If you buy a puppy, you want it to be healthy and physically fit. Puppy mills have deplorable conditions as we see many stories on the news about hundreds of dogs being kept in small kennels and only used for breeding. I did some research on such a place in Sheboygan County and was surprised to find out that this place is allowed to continue operation. The pictures are horrible and the news interview with the owner was amazing. He says he is not a puppy mill, but he makes a living breeding and selling puppies. These puppies are born to mothers who are bred repeatedly.

To look at these pictures, one would cry after seeing such inhumane conditions that these dogs live in day after day. Do these dogs have socialization, love, proper grooming and regular vet care? All one can do is pray that these dogs are rescued before any more puppies are born and held there for breeding.

Pet stores will tell you they do not buy from puppy mills, but will not tell you were they get the puppies from. These dogs are kenneled in the stores, watch as people come, and go, but leave them there. Yes, some stores leave the dog out for a couple of hours, but some of these dogs are there for months with no proper training or one on one bonding.

More people have to express opinions about these practices. It is inhumane to keep dogs cooped up in a small kennel with no love and touching. Another reason they stay there so long though is they charge an arm and a leg for puppies. Who is making the bucks for selling these puppies? Puppy mills and stores who buy from the puppy mills need to be put out of the dog selling business.

Everyday a new puppy mill is brought down, but two or three spring up in the backyard of your neighborhood. It is time for laws to regulate breeding of these dogs. Reputable breeders are the ones who register themselves as breeders and only breed healthy males and females. Stop the puppy mills from existing and save the poor defenseless dogs from a life of sadness and deplorable conditions.

Bring the Kids and the Family Pet

Places that welcome the kids and the family pet see more vacation rentals filling up faster and more often than ever before. The real cause is not the kids, but the family pet. If you remember to keep everything safe, the vacation will be fun and enjoyable.

If you choose a vacation rental out in the wooded areas, you want to check into wildlife activity and any suggestions the agent might have as far as safety and security of the kids and the beloved pet. Dogs love to chase things and cats love to entice other animals. Even through a window, a cat can be devious.

Most vacation rentals offer the kitchen necessaries, such as dishes, towels and pans. Please be neat and clean, and bring Brutus’s own dishes along for feedings. Dogs like to eat out of any dish, but for more of a homey feeling, they should have something personal.

Before leaving, if you encounter loose dog hair, just run the vacuum real quick so the housekeeping associates do not have to work extra hard to remove excess hair. Sometimes a nice little tip helps as well, since they will be cleaning for Brutus as well as the family.

Where did that Dog go to now?

If you happen to let the family dog outside and he does find something the catches his attention, he may just take off after the new attraction. If you lose the beloved little dog, always call the emergency number listed by the phone. If you remember, you could enquire as to what steps to take when you rent the vacation rentals.

Vacation rentals provide you with good information and help to make your vacation fun and enjoyable. They will gladly provide any information you might need in case of a problem of this type. Be prepared for any problem that may arise when you take the family pet along.

Some dogs just love to be outside and most vacation rentals have outdoor areas that might have enclosed for freedom runs by your family pets. In this case, you do not have to worry losing the beloved pet. Just do not the dog outside for long periods if he barks a lot, you do not to upset the neighbors.

Vacation rentals come with nice furnishings and a décor to match. Make sure the family pet respects this as well. Always remember to take whatever necessary equipment alone to help the dog feel more relaxed in new surroundings.

Make Sure You Dog Has Check Ups And Vaccinations

Bookmark and Share

A healthy dog is one who has regular check ups and receives needed vaccinations against rabies and distemper as well as heartworm prevention. People do not realize that just like babies, dogs also need to have their first shots at a young age. After the first shot, they need regular vaccinations to ensure they stay healthy and free from diseases that can infect and kill them.

If you have a regular veterinarian, they will inform you when vaccinations are required and what tests may be needed. If your dog shows signs of problems, you need to have a check up to see what the problem might be and what is causing it to happen. The earlier you take your dog to the vet, the better the chances of a full recovery from whatever is ailing them.

In some case, we forget about vaccinations and we should have a calendar to remind us of the necessary times and dates that they are required. This is vital to our dog’s health. If they would have an encounter with a rabid animal, they to could become infected and the result would be death. No to mention the fact they could infect us and other animals as well.

If you practice proper care of your dogs, you can ensure them a healthy life without to many problems. Keep in mind; if you suspect a health problem such as diarrhea, depression, loss of appetite, decreased urination or increased thirst, you need to have immediate medical care to have tests done to find the problem before it becomes severe. In most cases, dogs do respond to treatments if treated early.

Keep your dog happy and healthy just as you would yourself. Proper hygiene, vaccinations, diet and exercise are just as important to your dog’s health as it is to your health. Veterinarian’s are there to help your pets and they will be happy to answer any questions you might have about your cherished little dog as well. They may even have some suggestions for proper diet, supplements, grooming and bathing tips. If you love your dog as much as I love mine, you want them to live forever, or as long as they can.

People Who Breed For The Money Only

Bookmark and Share

As you know, many people breed their pets just to make money. This is causing a great deal of unwanted pets. With the dog population becoming critical, people need to stop breeding just for the money. Have you ever noticed the advertisements for a Labadoodle or a Pektzu? These dogs are being sold for over three hundred dollars. The following is a true story that just happens to prove a point. Some people are breeding these beautiful creatures to make money. It is not healthy for the females to continue to produce litter after litter without time to recuperate from the birth.

A person, who owns a Pekinese and a Shih-Tzu, continues to allow the female to become impregnated by the male. This is done whenever the female comes into heat. Her litters are usually five or six puppies. The person then sells the puppies for three hundred dollars to have money to drink. The puppies are not vet checked before selling nor do they have their first shots. This person continues to find people to buy these puppies and therefore, she continues to breed.

There was one puppy in the second last litter that was never taken, he is bull legged as the Pekinese father and no body wanted him. The owner was desperate to get rid of him because the mother was pregnant again. The puppy was four months old and never housetrained. I was asked if I wanted to buy him and I said absolutely not. When I was asked again the price was lowered to pay me if you can. I walked into this house and saw dog urine and feces everywhere. It took me all of two minutes to pick this little guy up and take him home. The others were somewhere else at the time, so I did not see them.

Training Jake was a task. He was never trained or even offered the outdoors as a way to go to the bathroom. After three hard and long weeks, I finally turned him around. My point is, this little guy was never cared for properly and I felt so sorry for him, I had to rescues him. There is no law saying how many times you can breed your dog nor is there anything stopping people. If people continue to breed dogs with health issues, the dog population of abandoned pets will increase.

I am a dog lover and would never have been able to pay such a price for this dog, but to this day, she has never asked me for the money. Everyone knows her reputation and still she finds people to buy these dogs. If people would stop supporting these people, maybe only reputable and respectful people would have dogs available without health issues. This to me is just a home run puppy mill. Another example of poor breeding practices. The only ones that suffer are the animals.

I have Jake and he is better taken care of and has learned many things in the months I have had him. He is the apple of his mom’s eyes. He and his brothers and sisters have a blog as well. You can learn about their days on Jake, Pooh and the Cats. Click this link over on the right.

Punishments For Dog Mistreatment And Cruelty

Bookmark and Share

People have no concern for harming a precious animal. A dog that has been mistreated, not cared for, starved or abandoned will have memories of this type of treatment forever. They have memories and feelings just as we as humans do. What are the punishments today for animal cruelty? You will be surprised to learn that they amount to a fine, very low mind you, to a couple days in jail, only in some cases. What is the difference between child abuse and animal abuse? In my mind, there is no different, both depend on us to care for them and nurture them.

Now, why would the laws governing child abuse not carry over to animal abuse? I see no difference between the two. Children need love and caring to grow and become a part of society, animals need love and caring to grow to become a part of society. Both need the same thing, so why are there not any laws to protect animals from abuse. People must stand up, take a stand on the treatment of animals in our society, and insist on harsher punishments for all involved.

Look at the love in the eyes of a dog or any other animal, see there expressions of love and fear, how could it be all right to mistreat them and leave them to die an inhumane death? You see news reports of people running puppy mills and these dogs are in horrible conditions. Why were they allowed to do this in the first place? Why don’t people report these horrible acts on animals to officials? Are we living in a society that renders itself anonymous to such acts of cruelty? People need to start taking affirmative action when it comes to saving these poor creatures from a life of misery and death.

If you see animals in need of help, stay a stance and call someone who can help. Never sit back and allow this to happen. Our children and our animals need protection. Just because we did not give birth to our animals, we still owe them the perfect life. They are our children in some ways. They depend on us to feed them, guide them and love them, same as children do. Tomorrow a look at people who continue to allow their dogs to mate for money purposes.

Take your Beloved Dog Along on your Next Vacation

Take the family dog along on your next vacation. Pet friendly vacation rentals are becoming more popular everywhere you visit. Grassy areas with picnic tables allow the little dog to run around while you enjoy the weather. The vacation rentals have places with easy access to the outdoors.

Dog snacks in the places may help the little one get use to the new surroundings and help prevent any accidents that can occur. Taking the dog around with you or leaving him in the car no longer becomes a problem with the available places to take the family pet along for the ride.

Some places require a small pet deposit, but this deposit is refundable after you leave a clean and undamaged room. Outdoor activities with the family pet needs to be controlled. Do not let the animal run loose for his safety as well as the safety of others. Change of scenery may cause the animal to become irritable and cranky.

Now you can enjoy a vacation rental and never have to worry about the family pet cooped up in a kennel for the time you are gone. Kennel expenses eliminated and more money in your pocket for shopping and fine restaurants.

Vacation Rentals Love the Family Pets

Most places were you go for a family vacation and take the family pet along love to take their picture and add it to their collection of favorite pet photos. Vacation rentals adapted the pet policy due to an overwhelming response from pet owners that become sad and lonely without the loved one along with them.

People, who remain happy and content, without worrying about the family pet, tend to return more often because they have fun. Pets have fun because they are able to stay with their master. Provided the vacation rentals offer enough resources for outside activity, it will be just like being at home.

Some vacation rentals have beachfront access and families enjoy this as well as the dogs. This allows you to play fetch and enjoy water sports while soaking up some sun. The only thing to remember is if little Bear uses the beach as his bathroom, clean it up so others do not have to worry about using the beach area.

With so many vacation rentals becoming pet friendly, this sure to promote more travels for people that worry about what to do with the family pets. Just remember the rule for safety; always keep the dog on a leash.
